Dissonant Predation's members have decided to cash in on their fame by devouring some of their more annoying groupies. Olivia, the bassist, can't seem to summon the heart to digest the girl she summmoned - Saki, a younger musician who had been crushing on Olivia and even learned to play because of her. But, of course, there's no turning back now...
Olivia let out a slow, uneasy breath, staring at her phone.
Weak cries, pathetic pleading, the vibration of furniture as two girls fought for their lives - the air was filled with the sounds of Claire devouring the panicked Ilina, Chiyo making short work of the formerly-eager Tamara in the rooms on either side of Olivia.
And on Olivia's phone - the messages she'd sent to Saki, a younger woman who'd started playing on YouTube because of Olivia, because of Dissonant Predation. She'd even started with the bass, though she'd soon branched out to guitar and even to vocals, started writing her own songs.
Honestly, Saki was... way more amazing than Olivia could ever hope to be. She was just a bassist. And yet... just because Saki was crushing on her...

Hi, Saki. Good time to talk?
OH MY GOD
Is this for real right now?
You're texting me?! Olivia from Dissonant Predator?
That's me!
Mind if we chat on the phone?

Eeeee I'm so excited! See you soon!
Olivia was luring Saki here to eat her.
Guilt was building up in Olivia's chest. Horrible fantasies played in her head - Saki arriving here at the performance space, Olivia failing to seduce her, Saki eating her instead. Taking over her spot in the band. Saki was so much better than her, and Olivia was being awful to her. She'd deserve it, she really would.
But the rest of the band was doing it to their own groupies, and she knew she was going to get teased endlessly if she just got pizza now.
Besides...
There came a knock on her dressing room door. "Guest here to see you, ma'am," the security guard said brusquely.
... Saki had already arrived.
Summoning all her courage - why is this so much harder than playing for a crowd? - Olivia got up to greet her guest.
In real life, Saki was tall, bubbly, and cheerful, with long, wispy dark hair and warm, friendly brown eyes. Gorgeous, in every way. "Wow, it really is you! I couldn't believe it when I saw who was calling," Saki said, a laugh mingling with her voice. "I almost hung up on you, but wow."
Olivia had to hold herself back from saying it probably would have been better if you did.
It wasn't that Saki wasn't tasty-looking, of course. Olivia's mouth watered as she looked over her fangirl - the trim stomach that peeked out from underneath the well-loved Dissonant Predator T-shirt Saki wore, the long legs that were only mostly covered by Saki's ripped jeans. A pair of beat up sneakers that Olivia remembered Saki posting about - the first things she bought with her money from YouTube, still in use a few years later.
But to eat her... Olivia tried to suppress her doubts. She really did. She forced a smile, tried to make it flirty (why can't she even remember what flirty looks like?!) "You look like an awfully sweet girl. When I was looking for... company..." cringe, what an asshole I sound like! "... I knew I would have to call on you."
Saki's quirky smile in response gave Olivia shivers. "This isn't just about some kind of studio tour, is it?" She nodded toward Olivia's dressing room. "Listen, can we talk somewhere private?"
"Uh, obviously," Olivia said, giggling and forcing a wink. "Right this way, my darling guest."
She opened the door, letting Saki pass through ahead of her before closing it behind them both.
Saki sat down on the cot, beckoning Olivia to sit next to her.
"So..." Saki began. "Look, let's not play games. I know what you're trying to do. And... I'm flattered. It's some kind of honor to be chosen by you."
"Huh?" Olivia's face started turning shades of red. "What do you-"
Saki held up a hand, silencing her. "You didn't invite me here because you wanted to jam out with a fellow musician. You invited me here because you wanted to eat me. And, I... guess I'm kind of honored that out of all your fans, you picked me."
"Um... was it that obvious?" Olivia asked, laughing hollowly. Inside, the guilt drowned out everything else. Fuck. I'm such an asshole. "Yeah... you're right."
Saki put a hand on Olivia's knee, rubbing it. "You know, one of the things I liked about you from the start, that made you different from the others - you were always so genuine. This was always about the music for you. You weren't here for the fame. You weren't here for the money. You wanted to have fun and jam out with... let's be generous and call them your friends."
Olivia's heart felt like it was filling with knives. Every word Saki said pierced Olivia's chest. I'm not the girl she was crushing on anymore. Who am I now?
"So, I guess I came here just because..." Saki shrugged, leaning back on the couch. "I wanted to prove to myself that you weren't really going to try to do that. Try to take advantage of one of your fans. Cause that's not the Olivia I know, the one who made me want to learn to play so that I could be on stage next to her one day."
"I'm so sorry, Saki," Olivia whispered, mouth dry. She stared at her casual flats. "I- I should never have done this in the first place. I'm so stupid."
The warm smile she received from Saki as the latter tipped her chin back up was confusing - not unwelcome, but certainly confusing.
"Hey. Fame changes people," Saki told her, tilting her head to meet Olivia's eyes. "But it doesn't have to. You don't have to keep going through with this. You don't have to eat me - or anyone else, for that matter."
Olivia rubbed her face. "The others are going to give me so much shit. They were already making fun of me for being stupid for not getting that they were planning to do this. I mean, our band is called Dissonant Predator, I should have-..."
"Fuck them," Saki said with a vehemence that startled Olivia. "They've never given you your due."
Olivia winced, dipping her head. "I mean, they give me what I deserve-"
"Bull shit," Saki insisted. "You deserve to have bandmates who love having a talented, genuine bassist. One the fans adore. Fuck those other bitches. You don't have to do this for them."
The sounds in the other rooms were starting to quiet, though the prey were still crying out for help. Olivia swallowed hard.
Saki took off her sneakers, peeled off her socks and tucked them inside. She lifted her bare feet, placing them in Olivia's lap. "Look. If I'm wrong about you, you can just eat me. I won't fight it. It's not like I'd want to live in a world where the Olivia I've adored from afar for so long is just another dime-a-dozen rock star who gets a big head and starts disappearing her fans because she knows she can get away with it anyway."
Olivia lifted one of Saki's feet, looking it over. It was beautiful - soft and pedicured with black polish, delicate and pink from the walk into the studio. She could almost smell Saki's natural scent from here - could almost taste Saki's flavor.
"I know the rumors get around that you're, you know, big on feet," Saki murmured, a fond smile on her face. "Can't blame a girl with a total parasocial crush for trying to get her idol's attention, can you?"
Olivia laughed awkwardly. "They're, um. Not... just rumors, actually..."
Saki pointed her toes, reaching her leg forward to touch Olivia's lips. The rich, mouthwatering scent of Saki's body filled Olivia's nose. "So? What's it going to be, Olivia?"
Olivia... finally let Saki's feet fall into her lap, breathing out a sigh. "... I can't do it. I don't want to do this. It's not-- it's not you. You're beautiful, and your feet are-- um-- they're lovely... But I-- I can't... make you go away."
"I understand," Saki breathed, reaching up to brush Olivia's cheek with a hand. Her smile warmed further. "I told you before - this isn't you, Olivia. This is your shitty bandmates. I knew it. I knew you were better than this."
"It's not like I can get other bandmates." Olivia rubbed a hand against her cheek, tears pricking at her eyes from frustration. "I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. They'll treat me like shit if I stay, but if I leave, I'm the bitch who broke up the band. If I eat you, I feel horrible for ending an innocent life, but if I don't, they never let me live it down, and it becomes another little rumor about me that everyone gets to know, just like my foot fetish. I just want to play music. When did this get so complicated? Why can't we go back to being four losers in a garage band, just jamming out and having fun?"
Impulsively, Saki leaned forward, taking Olivia's cheeks in her hands and kissing her deeply.
Shock passed through Olivia, leaving her motionless for a long moment - but then, semi-consciously, she leaned into it, kissing Saki right back. Reckless, to be kissing a fan she barely even knows... but...
Saki broke the kiss a moment later, looking sheepish. "Sorry. That was, uh, way out of line."
"No, I wouldn't say so," Olivia murmured, still dazed. "You're... really sweet, Saki."
Sitting up straighter, Saki took Olivia's hands in hers. "I have a proposal for you. Run away with me. You and me. Let's start our own band together. Fuck them, right?"
"Run away?" Olivia asked, confused. "Saki, it's not that simple. I have an agent, I have contracts, I--"
Saki waved a hand dismissively. "We can figure all of that out later." A sly smile formed on her face. "There won't be much of a band to be contracted to after three of the members have been busted for illegal digestion of unwilling prey, anyway."
Olivia felt paralyzed. "They-- they don't deserve that..."
"They're rich and famous." Saki squeezed Olivia's hand. "They're not going to get anything but a slap-on-the-wrist fine. But it'll be enough to get their upcoming tour canceled. You really wanna be on a tour bus with those three stuck-up predatory bitches for four months?"
That wasn't something Olivia had thought about when the tour was announced... but she feels herself cringing at the thought of it.
"Yeah, didn't think so," Saki said playfully. "Look. Do you want those girls in there to die?"
Olivia shook her head, hard.
"So. We call the cops. And we get out of here. You tell the rest good luck rehabilitating their image, you talk to the press and get ahead of this. My agent would love to break a big scandal like this." Saki's eyes glinted with mischief. "What do you think?"
"You've thought about this a lot," Olivia noted, giggling nervously. "It all makes sense, but..."
Saki's face reddened a bit. "I, um. I'm a big fan of yours, but I kinda hate the rest of the band. I've fantasized about this kind of thing happening for months. Sorry, it's kind of presumptuous of me to assume you'd just drop them for me like this, huh? Your long-time... friends, uh--"
"Let's do it." Olivia got to her feet, taking Saki's hand. "Let's get out of here."
"What, really?" Saki asked, eyes going wide. "I mean, I talked a lot of shit, but I just assumed you'd-- uh--" She paused, then picked up her shoes, plucking her socks out of them and putting those on before standing up back into her sneakers. "No, yeah, totally, let's do it."
"Yes. You're right. I've been tired of my bandmates, and it's time to take them down a peg. And go do my own thing with someone else." Olivia turned to Saki, smiling. "I don't know why you'd want to stick with me, just a boring ol' bassist, when you've been learning all kinds of instruments, you have a gorgeous singing voice, you--"
Saki put a finger on Olivia's lips. "I learned all that because I hoped we'd be able to play together sometime."
Olivia shook her head in disbelief. "You're crazy."
"About you? Yes, absolutely." Saki grinned.
Olivia laughed, suddenly shy. "... God... I thought- I thought you'd be angry. I thought you'd hate me. I thought you'd try to eat me in return. I had this whole terrible fantasy about you eating me and continuing the jam session with the rest of the band..."
"Might still do the eating part," Saki said with a much more natural flirtatious wink. "But only if you'll be able to jam with me more later. Nah, Olivia, I'm your number one fan. I wouldn't hurt you. Even if, you know, I was wrong about you... I'd go down for that. For you."
Speechless, Olivia stared at her fangirl for a long moment. So this is what it's like having a real fan... "That's... umm... I really should not have this kind of power..."
Saki reached out a hand, taking Olivia's again. "That's why you're giving it up. And that's why I'm here in the first place. Because you're the kind of person who would."
Olivia hesitated a moment... then threw her arms around Saki, squeezing her tightly. "Thanks for believing in me."
"S'what I do." Saki's hands rested on her head and back. "C'mon. Ready to make our mark on music history?"
"Now, wait just a minute, there's one more thing I want to figure out," Olivia insisted, pulling back. "... were you being serious? About eating me, and about... uh..."
"... trying to get your attention with my feet?" Saki finished for her.
Olivia blushed brightly, nodding. "I was going to say crushing on me, but..." She tucked a hair behind her ear. "Uh, yeah, that too..."
"Would I lie to my idol?" Saki asked, eyes sparkling. "Don't worry, once we get to a hotel or something I'll show you all the other things I learned in hopes I'd get to use them with you someday..."
